HOSPITAL

The Purpose and Goals of the Hospital and Wellness Program

The purpose of the Hospital and Wellness Program is to promote VFW member engagement with hospitalized and homebound veterans and to promote Post and community based programs that provide transportation assistance and other direct services to that community of veterans.

The VFW Hospital program promotes volunteerism and involvement in local hospitals, veterans’ homes, nursing homes, domiciliary and both VA and non-VA medical centers and clinics.

Within the Veteran community, concern for the wellbeing of others is inherent. We use this program to record our members’ activities regarding the care and concern for the wellbeing of other Veterans and their families. We also use it to highlight to Congress that we are fulfilling the mission that we were chartered for and to maintain our non-profit status.

Reminder for Post Commanders

Pursuant to Section 218, Part i of the National By-Laws Manual of Procedure:

Among the duties of a Post Commander, the Commander shall: "Assure that all reports are correctly prepared and promptly forwarded…”

The above doesn’t mean that the Commander must submit the report themselves, the Commander just must ensure that there is Hospital Activity Chairperson who will do it every month. If your Post is struggling with appointing or training a Hospital Chairperson, please contact me, and we can develop a path forward.

VFW Hospital Activity Reporting Instructions

Reporting dates for this administrative year will be from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027. Only activities completed and donations made after July 1, 2026 will be credited for the 2026-2027 program year.  Hospital Activity Reports are due by the 25th of each month for the preceding month.  Reports submitted after the 25th will be credited for the month in each the report was received.  Reports should be submitted for the period from the 1st day of the month to the last day of the month inclusive.  Example: for the period 09/01/2026 to 09/30/2026, you have until 10/25/2026 to have this report submitted to Department for credit for the month in which the activity was completed.

Go to VFWMI.ORG webpage. Click on the LOGIN dropdown menu, then click on Report Entry.

  • USERNAME is your Post Number (number only)
  • PASSWORD is Pass13, then click on Login inside the black box. (If you have any problems contact Department Webmaster Aaron McClung at 904-864-3910, aaron.mcclung.vfw@gmail.com)

Next, find "Add Report Data" on the left side menu and click on Hospital Activity, then click on the ADD box all the way to the right of the new page.  Your Post Hospital Activity report will come up. Change the month to the appropriate month for which you are reporting by clicking on the arrow in the month box.  Verify your Post number is correct and that the default email address that appears is the email address you want verification of your report to go to.  You may change this email address by entering a different one.  If you desire to change the default email address you must contact the Department Webmaster or the Department Adjutant.   (Note: The default email address for both the Program Activity / Community Service reports and the Hospital Activity reports will be the same so if you want the Hospital Activity report verification to go to another member you must change it each time.)

The blank Hospital Activity report entry form has pre-loaded donation report examples and values ready to fill out.   When reporting donated items and medical equipment on loan enter the number of items only and the report will calculate the total value of the reported items.

If you have any questions or need assistance in entering your Hospital Activity report, please contact the program Director.
